Dr. Malek recommends that you brush our teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste. Dr. Malek of implants90807 advises that your toothbrush be replaced every three or four months, however, if the bristles are frayed, replace your toothbrush. Along with brushing daily, Dr. Malek of implants90807 highly recommends that you clean between teeth on a daily basis with floss or an interdental cleaner.  There are places that your toothbrush cannot reach and an interdental cleaner will assist with the removal of plaque and food particles from between the teeth and below your gum line. Dr. Malek notes that a healthy balanced diet and limiting snacking between meals.

What is Gingivitis?
Gingivitis is the term given to gums that are inflamed, this is typically the initial stage of gum disease, and however, it can be treated easily, if caught in the early stages.  Gingivitis is caused by plaque buildup that begins to form on teeth and along the gum lines.  Dr. Malek recommends daily brushing and flossing along with a use of an oral rinse to remove and minimize plaque buildup.  If this plaque is not removed, it can lead to gum disease, and if not treated the gingivitis may become periodontitis.  If you have red, swollen, tender gums that bleed upon brushing, this could be the early signs of gingivitis.
